Features: This series of books is a recent research achievement of the National Key Discipline of "Basic Psychology" at Southwest Normal University, the Chongqing Key Laboratory of Basic Psychology, and the Chongqing Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences on Psychology and Social Management Research Center. It primarily involves research on hot and difficult issues in personality psychology, time psychology, cognitive psychology, and other fields, with many creative contributions in theory and methodology. It reflects the positive academic atmosphere and innovative spirit of the key discipline under the leadership of Professor Huang Xiting. This book takes a social psychology perspective and integrates research findings from biomedical, sociological, and other disciplines to preliminarily explore the formation mechanisms and intervention strategies of addictive behaviors. The main contents of the book include:
(1) Analyzing and defining the relevant concepts of "Personality and Addiction," and discussing the classification, diagnosis, and research methods of addictive behaviors.
(2) Analyzing the vulnerability and maintenance factors of addictive behaviors according to the bio-psycho-social model.
(3) Exploring the relationship between personality and addiction from theoretical perspectives such as psychoanalysis, behaviorism, and social learning.
(4) Discussing the relationship between addiction and crime at the levels of drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and internet addiction.
(5) Introducing some practical intervention methods for addictive behaviors.
(6) Discussing several important addictive behaviors, including drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and internet addiction.
The book "Personality and Addiction" has the following three characteristics:
(1) Novel and comprehensive perspective. Previous research on addictive behaviors has mostly focused on biochemical aspects, while this book primarily explores addiction from the perspectives of personality and social psychology, integrating biomedical and sociological research findings to differ from traditional biomedical approaches.
(2) Rich and well-structured data. The book cites a large number of domestic and international literature and also introduces the authors' own research findings.
(3) Emphasis on both theoretical exploration and practical application. The book strives to combine theoretical research on addictive behaviors with practical applications such as prevention and treatment. Although this is a preliminary attempt, it is commendable. Based on the above, I highly recommend this book to readers. The book holds significant reference value for researchers and practitioners in the field of addictive behaviors, as well as for students majoring in psychology, psychiatry, and related disciplines.
