Features: Master Xie Zhiliu, with his extensive literary cultivation, profound cultural heritage, sharp vision, and solid skills, deeply studied tradition while continuously innovating. His artistic style ultimately became brilliant, elegant, clear, and meticulous, blending ink and color freely. His landscape paintings carry the legacy of the Sui, Tang, Song, and Yuan dynasties, yet also reflect his unique intelligence and refinement, moving countless people and inspiring many to aspire to learn from him. I joined his studio in 1972, visiting his home twice a week. Xie Laoshi was completely unaware that I had "other intentions." One day, I saw a set of albums he had created at the age of fifty in a framing shop, made a copy, and presented them to him for guidance. To my surprise, he could no longer recognize his own work. After I explained the situation, he immediately inscribed a preface for me. Among us was also Teacher Chen Peiqiu, who happily wrote the characters "Authentic" as a gift, which I treasure and keep on my desk. Due to my long association with Xie Laoshi, I had the opportunity to observe his creative process closely, allowing me to understand every stroke deeply. As a result, his influence is evident in my own brushwork. I am now introducing his painting process to everyone, hoping it will be helpful to those who appreciate his landscape paintings. Xie Laoshi is a master of his generation, and those who imitate his work must continuously contemplate and grasp its essence to gradually move from form to spirit.
