Features: In today's society, the intercommunication, cross-penetration, and integration of different disciplines have become the main trend, with new disciplines mostly being interdisciplinary sciences. The reunified science, as a system, requires a transdisciplinary field that can connect the vertically divided existing disciplines, providing concepts, principles, and methods used by different disciplines, enabling science to have a crisscrossing network structure overall. System science is such a transdisciplinary field, with its scientific mission being to make new disciplines a complexsystem organized according to a multidimensional network structure, a new type of interdisciplinary study. Based on societal needs, we have invited Fang Meiqi, a long-time researcher in this field, to organize the writing of this textbook. It primarily introduces the application of system science and complexity theory in social sciences such as economics, as well as various computer models in social sciences. It specifically covers the application of multi-agent systems (MAS) in social sciences, agent-based computational economics (ACE), popular multi-agent modeling platform tools such as Swarm, Repast, Ascape, and the application of artificial neural networks, genetic algorithms, and classifier systems in learning and evolutionary models.
