On September 12, 1745, the East India Company's ship G?teborg, carrying treasures from China, sank after hitting a reef upon reaching its home port. Two hundred years later, as large-scale salvage operations began on the G?teborg, a plan to rebuild it was also conceived. Today, using modern technology combined with ancient shipbuilding techniques, after ten years of overcoming countless challenges, a replica of the historic vessel has been successfully recreated. This new G?teborg will once again set sail toward the distant land of China.
With rich historical and geographical knowledge and vivid narration, this book takes you aboard the Swedish tall ship G?teborg, exploring the earth-shaking events that unfolded along the maritime Silk Road from Sweden to China 260 years ago.
