Features: To adapt to the global development trend of medical textbooks in the new century, based on the successful model of long-term medical education in China and the actual needs of higher medical education in China, the Ministry of Education has implemented a new eight-year clinical medical education model in key medical schools across the country since 2004. The aim is to cultivate high-level medical professionals with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, and physical fitness, who can meet the practical needs of socialist modernization. The training objectives are set for clinical medical doctorates, with a training approach of "eight years of integrated learning, undergraduate and doctoral integration, strengthening fundamentals, focusing on quality, holistic optimization, and clinical orientation." The textbook writing team is composed of experienced doctoral supervisors working in teaching, research, and clinical practice, with a mix of senior, middle-aged, and young talents. The writing process strives to embody the "Three Basics" (basic theories, basic knowledge, and basic skills) and "Five Qualities" (ideological nature, scientific nature, advanced nature, heuristic nature, and applicability) principles, while also aiming to achieve "update, depth, and precision" and to realize "innovation and practicality." The textbook primarily covers common and frequently-occurring diseases, recommending new achievements, reflecting new developments, and showcasing new trends, with a focus on cultivating students' innovative thinking, self-learning abilities, and practical skills. This textbook is mainly intended for use by eight-year clinical medical students, as well as seven-year clinical medical students or other long-term medical students. It can also be used by clinical medical graduate students, or as an important reference book for medical students of other academic systems and clinical physicians.
