Features: This book is systematic and comprehensive, compiled from the author's decades of practical production experience. It helps readers understand the entire process of metal thin plate printing and the standardized operations in production, thereby reducing quality defects in products. It serves as a good guide for the daily production processes of metal thin plate printing enterprises. The book introduces the basic knowledge of metal thin plate printing technology and discusses the production process of metal thin plate printing products, including preliminary preparation, pre-press plate-making, main press operation, coating machine and drying oven operation, product quality inspection, and quality management. It concludes with a classified analysis of common quality defects in daily printing and packaging products. The book also includes major national standards, industry standards, and enterprise standards in the metal thin plate printing industry, making it highly comprehensive and practical. This book can serve as a technical manual and reference for production management personnel, operators, and others in metal packaging printing enterprises, as well as for students in universities and vocational schools.
[Preface] Metal packaging products come in various types and specifications, with main products including aluminum two-piece cans, tin-plated three-piece beverage cans, food cans, aerosol cans, 1–20L chemical drums, various bottle caps, pull-tabs, miscellaneous cans, and cold-rolled or hot-rolled steel drums with capacities of 35–208L, as well as tin-plated drums with internal coating and external printing. There are approximately 1,500 production enterprises in the country. The development of the metal packaging industry has not been smooth, having gone through 20 years of ups and downs. Since 1996, production has exceeded demand, and the entire industry entered a downturn. However, starting in the second half of 2000, due to the sustained development of related industries and China's entry into the WTO in 2001, the market gained new vitality, and the metal packaging industryed a significant development opportunity. The rapid growth of the metal packaging industry has also driven the development of closely related metal thin plate printing technology (commonly referred to as "iron printing"). Currently, there are more than 280 domestic iron printing production lines and about 120 imported ones. At the same time, there are a number of large iron printing enterprises, such as Shanghai Meilin Can Co., Ltd., Hangzhou COFCO Metco Container Co., Ltd., and Fujian Uni-President Tinplate Co., Ltd. Due to the of iron printing materials, operators often encounter issues such as misregistration and "ink streaks" during production. In response to the needs of various enterprises in the industry, the China Packaging Technology Association's Metal Container Committee holds iron printing training courses annually to address the weak links in the industry's iron printing technology and improve product quality levels. However, there are few books on iron printing in the industry. The author, Wang Shanyun, is an experienced engineer at Shanghai Meilin Can Co., Ltd. and has worked in this industry for over 30 years, accumulating rich practical production experience. For nearly 20 years, Wang has been dedicated to researching iron printing technology and has published dozens of papers in professional media in the printing and packaging fields. In the early 1990s, he wrote the book "Iron Printing Technology," which holds significant practical operational value. Over a decade later, with the rapid technological updates and development in the iron printing industry, Wang has written this book to help relevant technical personnel and managers in the industry.
