Features: This book systematically introduces an overview of plastic casting and rotational molding, static casting, embedded casting, centrifugal casting, film casting, dip casting, and rotational molding. It covers processing principles, properties of commonly used raw materials, typical processes, production equipment, operating procedures, common quality issues, and solutions. The book emphasizes practicality and operability, making it suitable for technical workers, junior technicians, and vocational school students engaged in plastic molding processing.
[Preface]
The concept of casting molding was borrowed from metal casting processes. It involves injecting preliminary polymerized, polycondensed slurry, polymer monomer solutions, or polymer melts into molds to solidify (complete polymerization or polycondensation reactions, cooling), resulting in products similar to the mold cavity. The casting materials used in plastic casting molding are generally liquid materials, which are flowable melts that can be cast into products under low pressure and room temperature through various methods.
Rotational molding (rotomolding) is an important branch of plastic molding processing. After more than half a century of development, its equipment and processes have become increasingly refined. Today, rotational molding has been widely applied, from small children's toys to large plastic storage tanks and plastic boats. One of the prominent advantages of rotational molding is that the equipment and molds used are simpler and cheaper, resulting in lower investment costs and faster implementation. Proper application of rotational molding processes can yield significant economic benefits.
This book introduces six aspects: static casting, embedded casting, centrifugal casting, film casting, dip casting, and rotational molding. It emphasizes practicality and operability while incorporating new knowledge and technologies. The content primarily focuses on forming principles, raw materials for forming, forming equipment, forming molds, forming processes, process control, operating procedures, typical product forming, quality issues and solutions, and equipment maintenance. Due to the compilers' limited expertise, there may be shortcomings in the book, and we sincerely welcome criticism and corrections from readers.
