Features: Like many other disciplines, the development of medical science has reached an ever-accelerating pace. Oral and maxillofacial surgery is no exception. With societal progress, the virtuous cycle of high-tech applications and theoretical updates has brought significant changes to the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of many diseases. Surgical procedures have also undergone such transformations. This change has been particularly pronounced over the past 20 years. In the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, some surgical techniques that were once commonly performed have gradually become historical records due to the declining incidence of certain diseases or their gradual extinction within the country. However, many other techniques have been continuously refined to become more rational, while numerous others have been developed and innovated. All of these efforts have greatly improved surgical outcomes and postoperative quality of life for patients. These developments signify the evolution of oral and maxillofacial surgery in line with the times, reflecting both the hard work and dedication of academic pioneers and colleagues, as well as the brilliance of their relentless pursuit of knowledge. Our Chinese oral and maxillofacial surgery colleagues have long been engaged in clinical practice, accumulating extensive experience and data while treating a large number of patients. Many have also undertaken arduous clinical research, achieving valuable results, thereby contributing to the advancement of oral and maxillofacial surgery in China. To summarize the experiences of this period and contribute to the development of oral and maxillofacial surgery, we invited some colleagues to compile their years of clinical experience and research findings, extensively referencing relevant domestic and international literature. Without hesitation, we have compiled this book, hoping it may serve as a summary, report, and, to some extent, benefit the readers. The contributors are all experts, professors with years of clinical experience, as well as scholars pursuing clinical research in otolaryngology, holding doctoral or master's degrees. This book is a color atlas, making it even closer to clinical practice and more structured. It is divided into 11 chapters with over 1,800 color illustrations. The content includes indications for surgery, preoperative preparation, anesthesia and positioning, surgical steps, and postoperative management. Some chapters also include necessary knowledge of surgical anatomy or theoretical overviews to help readers gain a deeper understanding. Keywords and surgical techniques in the book are annotated in English for easy reference. The primary audience for this book is physicians and graduate students working in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
