While striving to protect it, the banner is also dedicated to applying for the inclusion of the Yuan Shangdu as a World Heritage Site. To support their efforts, the Mongolian Studies Research Center of Inner Mongolia University has taken on part of the research and development tasks for the Yuan Shangdu. As one of its components, this book has been compiled as part of the Yuan Shangdu Studies Series, to serve. This selected compilation has been organized and edited by the renowned Yuan history expert, Professor Ye Xinmin. In essence, it is a collection of his years of research. Considering the records in the Shilu (Veritable Records) of the Ming and Qing dynasties regarding the Yuan Shangdu region, it can also supplement the shortcomings of insufficient early Qing content. The author has excerpted relevant entries and appended them as Chapter 12, "The Early Qing Shangdu and Chaohar Region." This chapter is further divided into sections such as "Shunzhi Emperor's First Expedition to Chaohar," "Shunzhi Emperor's Second Expedition to Chaohar," "Shunzhi Emperor's Expedition to Ming via Chaohar, Subduing the Chaohar Tribe," "Shunzhi Emperor's Expedition to Kalgan via Chaohar," and "Kangxi Emperor's Expedition to Galdan via Chaohar," for reference. With the assistance of Professor Tatsuko Oshima of Japan, the author obtained the Kangxi-era compiled Shilu scrolls from the Japanese Imperial Household Library. Therefore, the historical materials of the Shunzhi-era Shilu have been technically processed by comparing them with the Qianlong and Kangxi editions.
