Features: Basic design in decorative arts is an important component of modern design art education and a foundational course for professional fine arts. Since the early 20th century, the Bauhaus design education system began training students in the aesthetics of basic form shaping, which has since become a necessary path for inspiring and expanding students' creative design thinking in art and design schools across Europe and America. With the development and progress of the times, it has evolved into a mature and comprehensive educational system. Its craftsmanship, applicability, and embodiment play a significant role in guiding contemporary aesthetic concepts in modern design.
China's modern design education began after the 1950s with craft-oriented art schools, primarily focusing on inheriting traditional forms of aesthetic beauty and emphasizing composition, shaping, and aesthetics in graphic design training. Since the 1980s, the open social environment has allowed our designers and educators to gain a deeper understanding and recognition of the trends and educational models of modern design in developed countries. Through years of effort, our design has made significant progress, with the transformation of modern design education concepts playing a crucial role.
In an open and diverse social and cultural environment, modern design education should follow a new approach centered on human-centricity and individual development, fully exploring students' innovative thinking and potential in basic design training. It should foster an interactive relationship with other design disciplines, promoting the expansion and extension of students' creative thinking and expressive abilities.
Decorative graphic design emphasizes the cultivation of students' observation, comprehension, and imagination skills, encouraging them to break free from conventional morphological constraints. It does not focus on the rationality or logical thinking required to depict objects and images, instead advocating for the interplay or unity of (emotion), (reason), and (intuition) to create novel and imaginative personalized graphics, thereby achieving a harmonious integration of form, expression, and artistic conception.
