Features: When discussing the scenic beauty of West Lake, most attention is usually paid to the spring and summer seasons. And tourists from various places also tend to arrive during these times—autumn sees fewer visitors, and winter makes the place even more desolate. There are, of course, reasons for this. Between spring and summer, the weather is warm and pleasant, and the scenery on the lake is at its finest. Whether it’s "cherry blossoms blooming among the trees, flocks of orioles fluttering chaotically" or "egrets and gulls competing in flight under the sunny sky, with the breeze of lotus flowers offering a refreshing coolness," all of these are deeply moving and unforgettable. At this time, wandering on the lake, immersed in the gentle and fragrant atmosphere, who would say it’s not worthwhile? However, while spring flowers are indeed lovely, shouldn’t autumn moon also be cherished? The scenery of the four seasons differs, and true connoisseurs can each find their own delights. But this is something that ordinary people may find difficult to appreciate. Mr. Gao Shenfu once told us, "If one can elevate their heart and mind, broaden their perspective, transcend the mundane, possess a unique vision, and grasp the scenery with a deep understanding, then they will find the true essence." These are the words of those who deeply experienced the beauty of the world. Since the Song Dynasty, there have been discussions about the scenery of West Lake, such as the "Ten Scenes of West Lake" and the "Ten Scenes of Qiantang," which included names like "Snow on the Broken Bridge" and "Misty Snow on Mount Gu," but in reality, how many people truly go to appreciate such cold and serene scenes? In the "Winter Solitary Appreciations" section of The Four Seasons of Solitary Appreciation, the author mentions snow scenes, which account for about seventy to eighty percent of the content. The titles include "Seeking Plum Blossoms Amidst Snow," "Gazing at the River Sky Snow from the Top of Mount Samao," "Enjoying Snow Along the Xixi Path," "Brewing Tea and Sketching in the Snow," "Listening to Snow Tapping Bamboo from the Mountain Window," and "Watching Evening Cooking from the Town Sea Tower After Snowfall." Most of the described scenery is so vivid that it transports the reader’s spirit, and the beauty of the words is not merely in their elegance.
