Features: To express our gratitude to the fans for their long-standing support of "The Same Song," we have meticulously planned this songbook on the occasion of its fifth anniversary. We have compiled beloved and choral songs from different eras for middle-aged and elderly friends, allowing unforgettable songs to flow through the river of time and become eternal classics. We hope this songbook will accompany you as you savor these beautiful songs and melodies once again.
Flowers once told me how you walked;
The earth knows every corner of your heart;
Sweet dreams, none will miss them;
At last, we welcome this joyful reunion.
Thousand rivers, ten thousand mountains, we have passed;
Every meeting and smile are etched in our memories;
On sunny, joyful days,
We hold hands, with too much to say;
Starlight fills every childhood;
Through storms, we’ve walked the corners of the world;
The same feelings give us the same longing;
The same joy gives us the same song.
With the diversification of people’s demands for amateur cultural life, choral singing, as a form of musical art, has gained increasing popularity among the masses. Nowadays, amateur choirs, especially senior choirs, are growing in number, with choirsing actively in major and medium-sized cities and towns across the country. Through choral activities, not only is the leisure cultural life of senior friends enriched, but they also experience the charm of choral art, cultivate their temperament, and contribute to building a harmonious society.
In early May 2005, the Beijing Senior Choir Competition, organized by the Beijing Committee on Ageing and the Choral Union of the Chinese Musicians' Association, was held to solemnly commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Anti-Fascist War and the War of Resistance against Japan. Its aim was to spark a wave of singing songs from the Anti-Fascist War, especially those from the War of Resistance, and to inspire and promote patriotic enthusiasm. From this perspective, choral art not only unites a choir but also unites a nation and a people.
To meet the needs of the public, we have specially edited and published two versions of "Choral Masterpieces from China and Beyond" for the elderly. Considering the characteristics and convenience of senior friends, the font size, layout, and binding are all different from general publications. In terms of themes and styles, we have strived for diversity, including choral songs that reflect different eras and are full of a sense of time, as well as those that depict revolutionary history and praise noble sentiments. There are also vibrant popular songs, elegant art songs, and simple folk songs. Additionally, we have written "Performance Tips" after each choral piece for your reference.
