Features: Historiographical reviews are also a part of history. Historiographical reviews differ from historiographical monographs. The primary function of historiographical monographs is to seek truth and reality, explaining and analyzing history. Historiographical reviews, on the other hand, judge history and evaluate historical works, so they possess three characteristics: promotional, guiding, and critical.
The promotional aspect refers to objectively and impartially recommending a historian's works based on their integrity, scholarship, insight, and talent. The guiding aspect involves adhering to correct historiographical evaluation principles to comment on the strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures, and correctness or errors of historical works. The critical aspect entails assessing the merits and flaws of the works themselves, such as the collection and identification of historical sources, the new meaning and value of the works, the correctness of historiographical perspectives, and the accuracy of conclusions.
