Features: The book is divided into 14 topics, including 101 cases, with approximately 600,000 words. During the writing process of this case textbook, we paid special attention to the following points:
First, we are based on the Chinese context, striving to compile a public administration case textbook with Chinese characteristics. Although administrative reforms worldwide raise some universally significant issues, public management cannot be separated from the specific national conditions. While fully valuing the experience of international public management, we must dedicate more time and effort to exploring and summarizing the laws and methods of public management that suit China's context. Second, we adapted to the needs of the training audience, focusing on cases with major value and urgent practical issues for China's current public administration reform. The book primarily includes the first two parts: First, cases related to national development strategies, policies, and fundamental issues that have a significant impact on China's public administration reform. These cases are highly valuable for training senior and mid-level civil servants. The second part consists of cases that, while not fundamentally significant in their own right, address widespread, far-reaching, and highlyed urgent issues in China's current public administration reform. These cases are suitable for training all civil servants and state cadres. In this book, these two parts of cases are roughly equally proportioned. Third, we strive for practical content structure and standardized case writing to facilitate student reading and teacher-led case teaching. The book is divided into 14 topics, each including a theoretical overview and the main case. Fourth, we paid attention to the timeliness of the case's usability. The usability of public administration cases is generally highly time-sensitive, and timeless, ever-relevant classic cases are rare. In China's rapidly changing era of public administration reform, cases with enduring relevance are even rarer. Among the 101 cases in this book, only the case "The Feasibility Study and Decision-Making of the Three Gorges Dam Project" occurred before 1998. Most of the others are from the last two to three years.
