Features: "The Cold War," as a specific phase in the modern history of the world, has come to an end. Because the confrontation between the two major camps that emerged in the mid-20th century has become history, people have the opportunity to re-examine a series of issues—such as the origins of the Cold War, the evolution of the U.S.-Soviet conflict, the reasons for the Sino-Soviet alliance and its eventual split, the internal structure of the U.S.-Soviet-China triangle, and the impact of the Cold War on the dissolution of the Soviet Union—under the condition that the Cold War framework no longer exists. Thus, since the early 1990s, there has been a new surge in research and discussion on the Cold War and its history in the international academic community. In terms of the number and countries of participating scholars, research perspectives and methods, the variety and scope of topics, and the languages and countries covered by archival materials, this research has far surpassed the situation of the previous few decades. In this sense, Western academia now refers to Cold War history as Cold War international history.
