Features: Tourist resources are the attractive capacity of the tourism industry, serving as the foundation for its development and utilization. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the state has placed great emphasis on the protection, development, and utilization of tourist resources. Particularly after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, guided by the policy of "opening up to the outside world and revitalizing the domestic economy," the strategy of "involving the state, local governments, departments, collectives, and individuals together" and "combining self-reliance with the use of foreign capital" was adopted. The protection, development, and utilization of tourist resources entered a new historical period, achieving remarkable results. To reflect the overall picture and main characteristics of China's tourist resources, showcase the correct policies, major initiatives, and significant achievements of the new China in protecting, developing, and utilizing these resources, and to look ahead to future prospects, we compiled this book in accordance with the requirements of the State Planning Commission to organize the compilation of the "Series on Natural Resources of China." It is a part of the "Series on Natural Resources of China." The main contents of this book include: the types and formation of China's tourist resources, the development and utilization of tourist resources, the protection of tourist resources and the environment, scenic and historic sites, cultural heritage resources, ethnic customs resources, and food and culture resources, among others. We hope that the publication of this book will play a positive role in promoting the protection, development, utilization, and management of tourist resources, as well as in advancing China's tourism industry and the tertiary sector.
