Patient's question:
When I got the IUD, the doctor told me I had cervical erosion but still put the IUD in. She asked me to come back later and spend dedicated time treating the cervical erosion. Can cervical erosion be treated right after getting the IUD?Doctor's answer:
Cervical erosion can be classified into two types: physiological and pathological. Pathological cervical erosion is caused by chronic irritation from inflammation. If a check confirms cervical inflammation, it is not recommended to insert an intrauterine device (IUD) because it may lead to upward bacterial infection. It is advised to use medications for treating cervical inflammation, such as Xiaomi (Xiaomi), Nifuratel and Nystatin (Nifuratel and Nystatin), Baofukang (Baofukang), etc. The IUD should only be inserted after the inflammation is under control. Additionally, if the treatment is not effective and there are no plans for pregnancy, the LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) can be considered. During the treatment period, sexual activity should be avoided.
