If we calculate from the planning activities of the mathematics teaching theory series that began in early 1988, it has been nine years in total. Today, the teaching theory series for the five major subjects—Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Chinese, and Foreign Languages—have been fully developed, with 6 books per subject, totaling 30 books, named as "Modern Educational Theory Book Series for Disciplines." It took nearly a decade to build a set of educational theory book series that strive to embody Chinese characteristics. The twists and turns, joys and sorrows of this endeavor are naturally beyond words. But from the perspective of reflecting teaching reform achievements and serving teaching reform, it is a duty we must fulfill. Considering the construction of the publishing personality and culture of our publishing house, it holds profound significance and great value. In the new historical period of reform and opening-up, what can sustain a publishing house? What can it compete with? What can it develop? What can it contribute? There can be many answers and numerous strategies. But fundamentally, it cannot be without these two pillars: one, the backbone project; and two, prestigious and high-quality products. The backbone project is the strategic layout of a publishing house, while prestigious and high-quality products are its soul and lifeblood. Their perfect integration constitutes the quality, reputation, recognition, and cultural taste of a publishing house. It is the foundation of its existence, a means of competition, the driving force for sustainable development, the core of cultural accumulation, and the fundamental guarantee of contributing excellent culture to the people. With this understanding and this pursuit, we have published this series of books. Of course, there are also several other series. We look forward to the readers' judgment.
