Features: The Chinese Medical Classics Publishing House, with the aim of excavating and organizing the heritage of national medicine, rescuing rare medical books on the brink of extinction, and providing reference materials for medical workers and researchers, teachers, and other professionals, has been publishing a series of medical books titled "Series of Treasures in Traditional Chinese Medicine" since 1983. These books cover various treatises on basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine and clinical diagnosis. Due to the careful selection of source texts, which prioritize academic and bibliographic value, many precious medical books have been made available, earning widespread popularity among readers. In the future, we will continue to compile this series. However, among the vast collection of ancient Chinese medical classics, there are some rare books with high academic value that are unsuitable for facsimile printing due to their age, worn paper and faded ink; repeated reprints leading to numerous errors; or differences in formatting between ancient and modern styles. To address this, our publishing house will gradually compile the "Series of Rare Medical Classics," appropriately punctuating and annotating these ancient texts before publishing them to preserve the essence of classical knowledge, benefit future scholars, and contribute to the revitalization of traditional Chinese medicine and the well-being of humanity by providing more and better reading materials.
"Mingyi Xunwu" (Five Volumes), with the first and second volumes focusing on essential diagnostic principles and the treatment of cold damage (Shanghan), and the third to fifth volumes covering miscellaneous diseases and gynecology. The first and second volumes contain extensive discussions on specialized topics, which need no further mention here. The present manuscript records only the sections on miscellaneous diseases from the third to fifth volumes and does not address every condition comprehensively. Therefore, it is titled "Essentials of Miscellaneous Diseases in Mingyi Xunwu." The 1955 edition of "Mingyi Xunwu" published by the People's Publishing House is based on the Qing Yongzheng Cheng Shuzi Tang edition. Each page is divided into two columns, with each column facsimile-printing one page of the original book's front and back sides. The manuscript recorded by my great-grandfather and grandfather was from the Yongzheng Xinhun Zhandetang edition, which shares the same format and layout as the Cheng edition but lacks only one preface by Rao Zhaoxiong.
