Features: International Economic Law is an emerging and marginal legal discipline. On a global scale, as an independent legal discipline, International Economic Law has a nearly 60-year development history. In China, after more than 20 years of development, International Economic Law has become one of the most active in theoretical research and the strongest in practicality among all legal disciplines. Under the new circumstances of economic globalization and China's entry into the World Trade Organization, International Economic Law has demonstrated its distinctive contemporaneity and vigorous vitality.
Xiamen University was among the first institutions in China to engage in the teaching and research of International Economic Law. With approval from the former State Education Commission, the university pioneered the enrollment of master's and undergraduate students in International Economic Law in 1981 and 1985, respectively, and began admitting doctoral students in International Economic Law in 1986 (which was later adjusted and expanded to International Law in 1997). In 1987, the Institute of International Economic Law at Xiamen University was established. In 1995, the discipline of "International Economic Law and Hong Kong/Macau Law Research" at Xiamen University was included in the national "Project 211" as a key construction project for higher education institutions.
The goal of this program is to establish one of the important research bases and talent cultivation centers in the field of International Law in China. The publication of the "Xiamen University Series on International Economic Law" is a long-term effort in the discipline's construction and development. The series aims to showcase research achievements in the field of International Economic Law through a series of academic monographs, promoting academic and social progress. The series is committed to publishing the research accomplishments of Xiamen University scholars and alumni in International Economic Law, and is warmly welcome contributions from international scholars worldwide in this field.
