Features: As a leading software in the field of graphic design, Photoshop has become increasingly popular. In addition to social training classes teaching Photoshop skills day by day, some relevant vocational colleges have also offered similar courses, which undoubtedly are the driving forces behind the popularization of Photoshop. Due to the push from social education and personal enthusiasm for the "graphic design" profession, more and more people are now proficient in Photoshop. However, we should also recognize that many are limited to just "knowing Photoshop" and cannot apply it flexibly, nor can they use it to complete final works, let alone engage in professional image processing work. There are many reasons for this phenomenon—it could be a lack of creativity, a deficiency in color sense, unfamiliarity with the design process, or a lack of practical experience. In reality, this is normal; not every person proficient in Photoshop can become a graphic designer, just as not everyone who knows how to cook can become a chef. The purpose of this book is to help readers improve their practical Photoshop skills, enhance their artistic aesthetic ability, and raise their design level. Currently, the latest version of Photoshop is Photoshop CS, which has significantly improved in functionality and ease of use compared to previous versions. This book uses Photoshop CS as the creative tool and meticulously designs several classic examples, forming a unique collection of case studies. The content includes both routine teaching examples and commercial works, as well as practice exercises driven by interest. All cases are at an intermediate to advanced level, with works demonstrating the perfect combination of aesthetic art and computer technology. The examples are classic, the content is practical, and it is believed to provide great help to readers in their learning. The outstanding feature of this book is "completing artistic works with conventional methods," which is specifically reflected as follows:
Artistic Works: The works collected in this book emphasize not only the technicality of Photoshop but also the artistic quality of the pieces. Even for simple effects, artistic refinement and polishing from a visual perspective are applied to align with. For example, the flame text in Chapter 1 is a very classic effect that many people can create, but this book adopts an unconventional approach to make the overall effect more artistically appealing.
Detailed Steps: To help beginners smoothly complete the examples and improve their skills in practice, we provide detailed explanations for each case. By following the steps in the book, readers can achieve the final results and grasp the essence of design thinking, achieving self-taught proficiency.
Conventional Methods: In this book, we strive to use the simplest and most easily understandable methods to complete each example, prioritizing conventional techniques and avoiding complex or difficult-to-grasp concepts. For instance, when creating the water stain effect for an ancient book, many books use "channels," but we use "layer styles" to achieve the same result more easily, avoiding the obscure concept of "channels."
The book is divided into 14 chapters, including 14 intermediate to advanced-level practical examples, such as burning text, an old ancient book, a car poster, a personalized player, colorizing black-and-white photos, an electronic ticket, a banknote, ink wash paintings, commercial soft packaging design, calcium milk biscuit advertising, product packaging design, homepage design, corporate CI design, and stylish mobile phones. During the creative process, we strive to complete each example with minimal materials and a wealth of original techniques, aiming to present the most perfect works, fully demonstrate Photoshop's capabilities, and offer the most practical techniques and operation tips to readers. As long as readers patiently follow the steps in the book to complete each example, they will be able to easily use Photoshop to solve practical work problems and learn many advanced Photoshop techniques.
Additionally, to facilitate learning, all example materials and results are collected in the accompanying CD-ROM. Readers can either follow the book's steps to create the examples from scratch or open the examples on the CD for disassembly and analysis.
