Am I at risk of an ectopic pregnancy?

Patient's question:

I had my normal period on July 4th, had sexual intercourse on July 12th, but now it's August 24th and I haven't had my period yet. Could it be an ectopic pregnancy?

Doctor's answer:

The most common clinical presentation of ectopic pregnancy is first and foremost a history of missed periods. After a missed period, a pregnancy test will certainly be positive. A positive result indicates pregnancy, which can be either intrauterine or ectopic. Generally, after 30 days, there may be intermittent spotting with a small amount of bleeding, sometimes accompanied by mild abdominal discomfort in one side of the adnexal region. Before rupture, there may be bleeding and mild abdominal discomfort.
