Features: This series of books was compiled in accordance with the Ministry of Education's instructions to strengthen the education of first-level disciplines. It introduces 54 foreign English original works, covering 26 branches of linguistics and applied linguistics. Since its launch in September 2000, the first 54 titles of the "Contemporary Collection of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success, with the initial print run of 5,000 sets being in high demand and requiring reprints of 6,000 sets by October. Building on the success of the first 54 titles, FLTRP now introduces the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the "Collection" has five key features:
1. Comprising 58 English original works, it covers 33 disciplines, an increase from the first batch's 26, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origin of language, and chemical grammar theory, thereby more comprehensively meeting readers' needs;
2. It includes influential works by renowned contemporary linguists such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, enhancing its authority;
3. It incorporates classic works in linguistics published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press;
4. It still includes expert introductions, with a stronger team of experts than the first batch;
5. The book is prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jiaxuan Shen.
