Features: This book is compiled based on lecture notes. During the process of teaching the Western Linguistics History course for the English Teacher Training Program at Beijing Foreign Studies University, the editor found that it is highly beneficial for Chinese learners to understand the various schools of Western linguistics and grasp the fundamental perspectives and their origins. This helps broaden horizons, open up thinking, clarify the field, and conduct targeted reading. Based on the students' feedback, the editor adjusted the level of detail in the content and then wrote it in Chinese, dedicating it to the readers. During the writing process, in addition to referring to a large number of original English works, the editor also consulted relevant articles by domestic scholars such as Xu Guozhang, Wang Zongyan, Qi Yucun, Zhao Shikai, Hu Zhuanglin, and Xu Liejiang, and would like to express their gratitude here. I would like to extend a special thanks to my supervisor, Professor Xu Guozhang, for his enthusiastic support and deep care throughout the writing process of this book.
