It includes the research starting point of basic education, the modern value of basic education reform, and the rational positioning of research on basic education reform, discussing the ideals and pursuits of basic education reform. Based on the century-long trends of international basic education reform, it elaborates on the reform trends of basic education in various countries as they move towards the 21st century and their implications. The traditions and transformations of China's basic education are explored, and within a cultural perspective, the core of China's educational tradition—moral education tradition—and its contemporary transformation are examined, revealing that the essence of China's excellent moral education tradition lies in cultivating the moral consciousness of every individual. It theoretically elaborates on the development of school-based moral education curricula through exemplary approaches and argues for the practical basis of integrating the national, contemporary, and scientific nature of education. Part II is Research on the Reform of the Basic Education System (Chapter 4). It provides a comprehensive reflection on the reforms in the four major categories of administrative management system, investment system, school-running system, and internal school management system in recent years. Through this, it aims to showcase the current trends of basic education system reform, highlight key issues and their causal analysis, and seek practical breakthrough points for deeper system reform. Part III is Research on Curriculum and Teaching Reform (Chapter 5). This is the core part where basic education seeks deep-seated reform. Part IV is Research on Teacher Professional Development and Teacher Education (Chapter 6). The construction of teaching staff is the fundamental guarantee and prerequisite for achieving excellent results in basic education reform. Part V is Research on Creating Experimental and Model Schools and School-running Characteristics (Chapter 7). This is a major initiative currently being vigorously promoted in the field of China's basic education. As a member of the planning and evaluation committee for experimental and model senior high schools in Shanghai and a member of the review team for bilingual teaching experimental schools in Shanghai, the author has firsthand experience and deep reflections, which led to the formation of topics such as the definition of the connotation and extension of experimental and model schools, the causes of creating experimental and model schools, the formation strategies of their characteristics, the role of principals' personalities in shaping school-running characteristics, and the influence of teaching personalities on school-running characteristics.
