3. The revised "Shanghai Science and Technology Statistical Yearbook 2004" is divided into ten parts. The first part compiles comprehensive data on science and technology activities. The second, third, fourth, and fifth parts present the main subjects of science and technology activities according to statistical systems, with each system organized by unit, personnel, funding, projects, and output. This maintains the continuity of input-activity-output data across different systems while enhancing the practicality of data verification and the flexibility of processing and utilization. The sixth part compiles data on Shanghai's science and technology plans. The seventh part includes data from science and technology service departments. The eighth and ninth parts reflect data on the technology market, patents, achievements, and awards, respectively. The appendix provides explanations for some major science and technology statistical indicators, helping readers understand the statistical definitions, scope, and methods of science and technology data.
4. During the compilation of the "Shanghai Science and Technology Statistical Yearbook 2004," the editorial team received strong support and cooperation from science and technology management departments across the city. Given the broad scope of science and technology statistics, we will continue to strive to enrich the data on Shanghai's science and technology activities, making the "Shanghai Science and Technology Statistical Yearbook 2004" more adaptable to the needs of various sectors of society.
