Economic Market Tutorial

Author: Bai Yongxiu
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2003-03-01
Features:
(1) Seek "sameness" without preserving "differences." Focuses on analyzing and explaining the fundamental concepts, principles, and laws of the market economy, without conducting comparative research between socialist and capitalist market economies.
(2) Innovate rather than blindly copy. When presenting market economy theories, it does not simply parrot Western economics but instead grounds itself in China's national conditions, boldly "manufacturing" and theoretically innovating upon Western economics, striving for breakthroughs in the localization of market economy theory research.
(3) Strive for popularization. Avoids complex mathematical models and graphs. We believe the market economy is a highly practical and operational discipline, and quantitative analysis and empirical research methods are acceptable. However, it is essential to consider its public foundation, employing vivid and accessible language and forms that people are likely to embrace, making it more relatable to the public and everyday life. This is the goal of this textbook.
(4) Adapt to the new context following China's entry into the WTO. Accelerating alignment with the mainstream of the global economy is both an objective need for China's future market-oriented reforms and an inevitable requirement for the market economy theory to keep pace with the times. Therefore, interpreting new issues in China's market economy operation using internationally standardized economic language is also a feature of this textbook. This book was jointly compiled by teachers from more than ten universities, including Renmin University of China, Northwest University, Xi'an Political College, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an University of Finance and Economics, and Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications, based on the summary of teaching experience and investigations. It comprehensively elaborates on the fundamental concepts, principles, and laws of the socialist market economy.
