Features: Currently in the translation field, there are many talents in English-to-Chinese translation, while the scarcity of Chinese-to-English translators has become a common consensus. Professor Qiu MaoRU of Shanghai International Studies University believes that from the perspective of translation theory, the general requirement for translation is to convert foreign languages into the translator's native language. After all, translators are naturally adept at their native language, and even if they can understand foreign languages very well, they are unlikely to use them as fluently as their native language due to cultural, environmental, and other factors. Therefore, the task of translating Chinese into foreign languages should be more suitable for foreigners who are familiar with Chinese. However, since there are not many people studying Chinese abroad, this task has had to be undertaken by domestic translators. This book analyzes the respective characteristics of English and Chinese languages (or, the commonalities and individualities of the aesthetic qualities of Chinese language). It argues that the literary charm of English primarily lies in its complex and intricate, long sentence structures that are hard to break off; it also manifests in the effortless and sparkling with new ideas of word transference.
