Features: This book depicts an unscripted large-scale exercise simulating a localized war under high-tech conditions. A fully-equipped, battle-hardened type-A division, representing the main strength of the Chinese military at the time, suffers repeated defeats in tactical confrontations against a type-B division equipped with advanced high-tech technology. It profoundly reveals the severe survival challenges faced by the Chinese military at the end of the 20th century within the global military, political, and economic landscape. The work praises the heroic spirit of outstanding contemporary Chinese soldiers, who, trapped by outdated notions nurtured in peaceful conditions, inflated individual desires, and external material temptations, carve out a bloody path. It possesses the Hemingway-esque simplicity and power.
