Patient's question:
I got an IUD three years ago. Perhaps due to poor hygiene, I accidentally developed cervical erosion. Can I still remove the IUD now? Are there any risks involved? What kind of impact would removing the IUD have? How long would it take to be able to walk normally after removal? Would I need to stay in the hospital for close observation?Doctor's answer:
With cervical erosion, most cases can undergo IUD removal. The procedure can be performed within 3 to 7 days after the menstrual cycle ends. After the removal, as this is a minor surgery, patients can walk immediately. Therefore, there is no need for hospital observation. Within one week after the removal, it is important to carefully monitor vaginal bleeding and avoid sexual intercourse. Generally, sexual intercourse should be avoided for at least half a month. For cervical erosion, most cases are recommended to be treated with methods such as microwave or laser therapy. If necessary, LEEP surgery can be used.
