Menopause, does it cause dizziness?

Patient's question:

I noticed that my husband seems to be going through menopause these days, and his temper is really bad. He also often feels dizzy, has a headache, and is in pain all over. I wonder if it's normal to have a headache during menopause?

Doctor's answer:

Menopausal syndrome refers to a set of symptoms and physical manifestations resulting from psychological, neuroendocrine, and catabolic metabolic changes during menopause. The clinical diagnosis of menopausal syndrome often manifests as paroxysmal flushing, sweating, chest tightness and shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, fluctuating blood pressure, irritability, tension, sometimes depression, tearfulness, or abnormal skin sensations.
