Features: This textbook is designed for biology students and was compiled based on years of teaching experience. In accordance with the requirements of the "Teaching Syllabus for Botany in Higher Normal Universities," the book includes a total of sixteen experiments, covering topics such as laboratory rules, microscopes and basic experimental techniques, and experimental content. It aims to assist students and guide young faculty teaching experimental courses, address difficulties encountered during experiments, and strengthen the training of fundamental botanical techniques and skills. This improves the quality of university botany laboratory courses and enhances students' independent working abilities. The revised edition (2nd edition) was published in June 1993 and underwent three printings in August 1995, April 1996, and March 1998. This textbook is the result of decades of teaching and research practices by several generations of faculty in plant science at our institution. Through multiple revisions and refinements, its quality has continuously improved, making it one of the main experimental teaching materials in higher education institutions in China. It has been distributed to over 50,000 copies. To this day, it remains a key experimental guide or reference book for students and young faculty in relevant institutions. It is also one of the primary reference materials for scientific and technological workers in agriculture, forestry, traditional Chinese medicine, and related fields, serving as a guide for talent training, technological development, hybrid breeding, and scientific productivity. Since the reform and opening-up, China's education, teaching, and science and technology have developed rapidly, and the existing botanical science system faces institutional and comprehensive reforms. Therefore, the original botanical science textbooks, especially those for experimental guidance, should undergo significant revisions. However, due to existing conditions and the immaturity of reforms, only further revisions based on the original foundation are possible. This revision incorporates recent research findings and utilizes modern microscopic photography techniques to capture colorful images of plant anatomy, showcasing the rich microscopic world of plant structures. This enhances the visual appeal, realism, and scientific accuracy of the textbook's illustrations, stimulating students' enthusiasm for mastering this foundational course, improving their self-learning and analytical abilities. It also broadens their horizons while providing opportunities to deeply understand the key, challenging, and creative aspects of teaching theory. Additionally, it emphasizes the cultivation of comprehensive qualities in talent.
