Features: This book is written based on the Higher Vocational and Specialized College Welding Professional Teaching Plan and Curriculum Syllabus revised by the Welding Professional Group of the National Mechanical Vocational Education Heat Processing Professional Teaching Guidance Committee in July 2002. The book primarily discusses the process essence, quality control, and the composition and working principles of corresponding welding equipment for various commonly used welding methods, and provides a concise introduction to the new developments in welding methods. The book is divided into ten chapters. For ease of discussion, Chapter 1 focuses on introducing the common content of arc welding and some general aspects of its development, such as the heat source and power supply characteristics of the arc, wire melting and droplet transition, base material melting, and weld formation rules. Chapters 2 to 7 systematically introduce arc welding methods and equipment such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW), CO2 gas-shielded welding, molten inert gas welding (MIG), tungsten inert gas welding (TIG), and plasma arc welding. Chapters 8 and 9 mainly discuss the characteristics, principles, and applications of resistance welding and brazing. The final chapter briefly introduces welding methods such as electroslag welding, stud welding, electron beam welding, laser welding, friction welding, and high-frequency welding to broaden the scope of professional knowledge. This book emphasizes the basic theories and practical issues in the application of commonly used welding methods, lists a large number of practical welding process parameters for selection, and includes review questions at the end of each chapter. This book is a planned teaching material for welding professionals in higher vocational and technical colleges and can also be referenced by engineering technicians engaged in welding work.
