Features: Since the early 1980s, there have been significant changes in the types of pesticides used in production. Some high-residue (e.g., BHC, DDT), highly toxic (e.g., parathion), and tripharmacological (cancer-causing, teratogenic, and mutagenic pesticides, such as aldicarb) products have been phased out of the market. Some highly toxic or high-spectrum organophosphorus pesticides that played a major role in chemical pest control, such as dimethoate, methyl parathion, and phenthoate, are now produced under strict limits by the state and will be banned after two or three years. Meanwhile, new high-efficiency, low-toxicity, and safe varieties, formulations, and mixtures continue to emerge, along with the constant updating of pesticide application machinery and techniques. Since one pesticide may control multiple diseases, pests, and weeds, and a single disease, pest, or weed can be controlled by multiple pesticides, indiscriminate mixing of different formulations or unreasonable alternating use may fail to achieve control effects and may even cause phytotoxicity. China is vast, with extremely diverse natural ecological conditions across different regions. The dosage of the same pesticide for controlling the same disease, pest, or weed in different ecological zones may vary by several times. Farmers, agricultural machinery personnel, and agricultural workers urgently need to understand the performance and usage methods of different pesticides to effectively control diseases, pests, and weeds. To this end, we have compiled this "Brief Handbook of Common Pesticide Usage." Its features are oriented toward agricultural production, emphasizing application technology, and striving for simplicity and practicality. To facilitate farmers in accurately grasping pesticide dosages, this book still uses the unit of "mu" (a non-official metric unit, where 15 mu = 1 hectare). Please bear with us.
