Features: The development of anthropology in China has gone through a century-long journey. Since Yan Fu translated Thomas Huxley's Evolution and Ethics in 1901, generations of scholars have toiled through hardships and opened up new paths, spreading, growing, and taking root in the land of China. Anthropology is a discipline of reform and development, with the mission of exploring the mysteries of human culture. In an era of cultural diversity, it must continue to demonstrate its unique charm. Through the diligent efforts of several generations of scholars and the exploration and reflection on anthropological theories in academia, the call for establishing a Chinese school of anthropology has grown stronger. To form a Chinese-style anthropology and ensure that Chinese anthropology stands shoulder to shoulder with its global counterparts, and to shift from the periphery to the center, we not only need to keep abreast of the latest academic trends and achievements worldwide, grasp the major trends of anthropological development, but also truly digest the invaluable legacy left by our predecessors, so that anthropology can be better integrated with China's cultural characteristics and academic traditions. With the increasing complexity of global academic and cultural exchanges, the momentum of academic development is accelerating at a breakneck pace, and theoretical schools are emerging at an unprecedented rate. It is imperative to publish the works of older anthropologists, introduce and translate the works of foreign scholars, and release new research monographs on epistemology, all at the same time. Only under the soil of "using the foreign to enrich the native" and "making the old serve the new," through the joint efforts of scholars nationwide, and with accumulated strength followed by breakthroughs, can the Chinese school of anthropology flourish. As the Department of Anthropology at Sun Yat-sen University, the first such department to be reopened in mainland China, shoulders the responsibility of discipline construction, it is our duty to do so. We plan to publish the Sun Yat-sen University Anthroponomy and Ethnology Series as part of the construction of our national key discipline.
