Features: Comrade Tian Han (1898–1968) was the founder of the Chinese revolutionary theater movement, an outstanding leader and organizer of revolutionary cinema, and a pioneer in the reform of traditional Chinese opera. To commemorate the 105th anniversary of Tian Han's birth, the Tian Han Foundation of China and the Tian Han Research Association recently held an academic symposium on Tian Han in Beijing. Zhou Weizhi, Ouyang Shanzun, Chen Haosu, Xu Xiaozhong, Tian Hua, Tao Yuling, and others attended the symposium and held discussions on Tian Han's literary and artistic thought and creative practice. The attending experts agreed that Tian Han's works were closely tied to the fate and interests of the people. He was closely linked to the modernization of Chinese literature and art and was one of the pioneers of theater reform. The theater world recognizes Tian Han as a true master with a grand demeanor. He not only led the Chinese theater movement but also engaged in theater education, leaving a profound impact on Chinese audiences. Today, his spirit remains worthy of promotion. Tian Han's Lyric Song Collection was edited by Sun Shen and published by the People's Music Publishing House. The book collects all the lyric works of Tian Han that have been collected so far, as well as the compositions by twenty-seven other musicians who set the lyrics to music, including Xian Xinghai, Nie Er, Lü Ji, Zhang Shu, Ren Guang, He Luting, and others. The publication of this book holds significant documentary value for studying the individual artistic achievements of these lyric and composer writers, as well as the modern mass song creation represented by their works in China.
