Author: (Qing) Kang Youwei
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1998-06-01
Features:
1. The selected materials in this book are primarily Kang Youwei's political essays from 1816, when he received the "learning of governing the state" from Zhu Ciqi, until his death in 1927. Speeches with political propositions, telegrams, letters, poems, and essays, as well as prefaces or main chapters of important monographs, are also selectively included.
2. The selected materials in this book are mainly single-essay works, primarily organized based on Kang Youwei's intellectual activities and divided into three volumes according to different historical stages: Volume I (1877–September 1898); Volume II (October 1898–October 1911); Volume III (October 1911–1927).
3. The selected materials in this book are generally arranged in chronological order of composition or publication, with sources and publication dates clearly noted. Handwritten drafts and copies are also annotated with their storage locations.
4. For works with verifiable composition dates or those tentatively confirmed after careful review, they are arranged by composition time. If the composition date is unclear but the work was published in a newspaper or journal, it is organized by the publication date of the newspaper or journal. For works not found in newspapers or journals and temporarily undetermined in composition time, or those published in newspapers or journals but with uncertain composition dates, they are marked as "approximately composed in" or temporarily arranged by publication date.
5. The selected materials in this book are generally entered based on the original version when first published, retaining the original titles. Occasionally, if the original lacks a title, one is added based on the content.
