Features: This series of academic publications is sponsored by the Harvard-Yenching Institute in the United States, co-edited by scholars from China and abroad, and published by The Commercial Press. It includes four sections: "Papers," "Reviews," "Book Reviews," and "Correspondence," with one issue published each quarter. Its purpose is to elevate the standards of humanities and social sciences research in China, promote academic achievements in the Chinese-speaking world, enhance the cultural cohesion of China, and foster in-depth academic exchanges between China and the world. It aims to revolve around the axis of "Humanities and Society," pursuing interdisciplinary integration. This book is the second issue of the academic journal China Academic. The second issue of China Academic includes 8 papers, 5 reviews, and 14 book reviews. The papers feature original research findings by Chinese and foreign scholars in fields such as history, culture, and Buddhism. The reviews focus on the criticism, discussion, and reflection surrounding the debates triggered by the book Remembrance by the Chinese scholar Wu Hung in the West, revisiting the controversy and reflecting on its significance. The book reviews introduce recent and excellent publications from both China and abroad.
