Features: In late October 1993, the "Life Space" program of the "East Today" column began telling the stories of ordinary people every day to the audience. Eight years have passed since then. In November 2000, "Life Space" was renamed "People's Stories," but our core mission remained unchanged—we still tell the stories of ordinary people every day. To date, over 2,000 Chinese and foreign ordinary people have met through our screens and with you. The book "People's Stories," a compilation of stories broadcast by the sub-column "People's Stories" of CCTV's "East Today," has recently been published by Dazhong Literature and Art Publishing House. As a program that focuses on ordinary people, "People's Stories" has always been deeply loved by a wide audience since its launch. Last November, with the launch of the newly revamped "East Today," "People's Stories" began to focus on reality and attempted to divide some richly meaningful stories into several episodes for "split story" broadcasts. In terms of production format, it drew inspiration from traditional serial novels and contemporary TV dramas, with each episode being self-contained while also creating suspense. Due to the and touching nature of the stories, ratings have increased significantly since the revamp. However, due to the limitations of television, many materials outside the screen have been difficult to fully present to the audience. The publication of the "People's Stories" book perfectly fills this gap.
