Publishing Date: 2002-10-01
Features: This book is one of Guo Moruo's specialized works on interpreting oracle bone inscriptions. Building upon the foundation of Compendium of Oracle Bone Inscriptions, it further elaborates on the social system of the Shang Dynasty by utilizing more and more important oracle bone materials. It was first published in Tokyo, Japan, by Bunqiu Tang bookstore in early 1937 with a limited print run. In 1965, it was published as Issue No. 12 of the Archeology Special Publication Series of the Institute of Archeology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, by Science Press, along with an index. For this edition, we have corrected some text and the index. To preserve Guo's handwriting, certain written and clerical forms of characters in the original book were left unchanged as printed, as the author did not make any revisions before his death.
