Features: Huizhou Dialect was only identified as a Chinese dialect in the late 1980s. Prior to that, it was treated as part of the "Unidentified Dialect Zone." Why would a dialect spoken in a relatively small region remain uncertain in its status for such a long time? The main reason is that Huizhou Dialect exhibits characteristics of Wu dialect, Hakka and Gan dialects, Jianghuai Mandarin, and even some features of Min and Yue dialects, making it difficult to rigidly classify it into a major dialect group. This book is divided into three parts: Part One consists of two chapters, briefly outlining the formation, evolution, and features of Huizhou Dialect, as well as its internal variations; Part Two has five chapters, focusing on describing the basic phonetic, lexical, and grammatical characteristics of each dialect subgroup of Huizhou Dialect; Part Three explores the profound cultural heritage of Huizhou Dialect.
