Applying project management theory to the field of sports events, introducing advanced management concepts and new knowledge and technology, is of great significance for improving the quality and level of sports events, achieving comprehensive benefits. To date, a number of universities and research institutions in China have offered project management training courses. However, in the sports field, project management has not yet received widespread attention, and its operational practices lack theoretical support and guidance. In this regard, experts have expressed concerns that China faces a shortage of project management talent in sports events, which will inevitably increase the operational costs. Sports event management is a complex knowledge system involving numerous elements. In the published works of domestic scholars, the knowledge system of sports events has been analyzed as relatively independent "modules" to varying degrees. Due to the lack of analysis in the logical order of sports events' occurrence and development, combined with the fragmented nature of each module's content, beginners often struggle to grasp the key points during their learning process. Based on this, this book attempts to introduce relevant project management theories into sports event management to address the shortcomings in the theory and methods of project management in sports events.
