His father named him "Dingxin," inspired by Sun Yat-sen, the revolutionary pioneer, who advocated "reforming the old and establishing the new." In 1924, Hu Qiaojiu achieved excellent results and was admitted to Jiangsu Provincial No. 8 Middle School (now Yangzhou Middle School). That year, he was the only student from Anhu Lake Primary School admitted to Jiangsu No. 8 Middle School. At the provincial school, Hu Qiaojiu began to come into contact with progressive publications such as Youth of China, The Guide, and the Manifesto of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, among others. Hu Qiaojiu gradually realized the political significance and practical content of the Communist Party's slogan of opposing imperialism and feudalism to eliminate exploitation and poverty in China, achieving socialism and communism. At the same time, he learned about the October Socialist Revolution in Russia, Marxist theory, and its discussions on social revolution. Hu Qiaojiu's political inclinations became increasingly clear.
