Features: This book primarily selects the brilliant sayings of Confucius and his disciples, while also including a small number of materials describing Confucius's daily life. "Brilliant sayings" generally refer to profound, subtle, and enduring language that leaves a deep impression, such as maxims, admonitions, concise arguments, and beautiful expressions. However, the "brilliant sayings" in this book extend beyond this scope. In addition to the above, they also include materials that are progressive in thought, healthy in content, full of wit, and of significant influence. We hope to introduce the essence of Confucian thought to everyone through this broader definition of "brilliant sayings." As a popular book, in addition to the general characteristics of a popular edition, this book pays special attention to ease of reading and effortlessness, striving to make it "clear at a glance." The brilliant sayings selected in this book are divided into ten chapters, with each chapter further categorized into three or four sections. This arrangement by chapter and category helps readers grasp the main points. The book first lists the original text, followed by "General Meaning of the Original." In the "General Meaning of the Original," relevant background, event materials, and explanatory and interpretive text are included in the translation. For certain errors and outdated ideological elements in the original text, a brief analysis and critique are provided at the end, aimed at clarifying right and wrong, distinguishing between essence and dross, and recognizing its historical limitations.
