Features: This collection includes 308 sketches by 89 Russian (including former Soviet Union) artists from the 1770s to the 1980s over a span of 200 years. Russian sketching and its teaching system were introduced to China in the 1950s and had a significant impact on the Chinese art world. This influence had both positive and negative aspects. It can be said that the positive aspects were predominant. The negative impact stemmed partly from our lack of a comprehensive understanding of Russian art and our superficial recognition of it. Today, we have compiled these Russian sketches and presented them to the readers with the hope that by studying this collection, readers will gain a more comprehensive and deeper understanding of Russian sketching and Russian art, thereby inspiring new insights.
