Publish Date: 2005-03-01
Features: The arrangement of chapters in this book is completely corresponding to that of College Foreign Trade English. It mainly consists of two parts:
Part 1: Explanations of exercises after the main text, which mainly includes four types of questions:
The first type is multiple-choice questions, the second is term definitions. The main purpose of these two types of questions is to test students' understanding of the core content of the text, with a focus on professional knowledge. The answers not only summarize the content of the text but also supplement a large amount of background knowledge based on the need to understand the text. This helps students comprehend the text while enriching and broadening their knowledge in foreign trade. The third type is translation, either English-to-Chinese or Chinese-to-English. This part mainly assesses students' mastery of key English phrases and sentences, with a focus on language skills. The answers are partly excerpted from the original text and partly referenced from relevant original English and Chinese materials, aiming to provide students with authentic examples. The fourth type is rewriting English paragraphs. This part places higher demands on both students' professional knowledge and language skills.
Part 2: Explanations of exercises for supplementary reading. This part primarily consists of discussion questions to train students in summarizing and synthesizing information from entire passages or texts, as well as in collecting and organizing information. The answers generally cover content beyond annotations, as well as key and difficult points in language, and guide learners to apply theories from the main text to solve practical problems or explain certain economic phenomena. Of course, the answers cannot be all-encompassing, as the primary purpose of writing this book is to serve as a reference to encourage independent thinking, in-depth research, and self-reliance in problem-solving and knowledge discovery.
Additionally, some chapters include "summary questions." Here, it is important to remind readers that the supplementary reading material is intended to encourage students to learn or explore more, newer, and richer typical materials to further improve their reading skills. The requirements for reading should not be uniform; they can vary in quantity and depth, allowing students to proceed according to their own abilities.
