Features: The development of academic careers is like the Yangtze River and Yellow River, with waves following waves, endless and flowing. It is also like the passing of the torch, with generations succeeding one another, with the brilliance growing ever brighter. Later scholars must understand the work already done by their predecessors, inherit their achievements and experiences, and continue to move forward on this basis. The Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has gathered dozens of senior experts from dozens of disciplines in our institution. They have decades of research experience in their respective fields and have made significant contributions in their areas of expertise. The library now published features representative works selected by each expert from their academic careers, brought together for publication. This not only showcases the diligent academic paths they have traveled but also reflects the achievements and development in various fields of philosophy and social sciences in China over the past few decades, especially since the reform and opening-up. It is a very meaningful endeavor. Teng Teng's Collected Works: Since I was transferred to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1993, more than ten years have passed, second only to the thirty-seven years I spent studying and working at Tsinghua University in terms of duration. At the Academy, I continued to follow the dual-path approach, balancing party and government work while exploring and shaping my own academic direction. I aimed to develop a field at the intersection of social sciences and natural sciences, where I could continue my academic work in energy and resource utilization and technical economic analysis while moving closer to socio-economic aspects. Ultimately, I chose sustainable development and ecological economics, an emerging discipline highly valued both globally and in China, and I have included the work I did at the Academy in recent years as a part of this collected works.
