Features: This series of works collects decades of outstanding and representative academic papers by the members of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Each member contributes one book, selected by themselves, totaling 41 volumes with approximately 15 million words. Tang Kemin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Shanghai Popular Science Press, which is responsible for the publication, said: "The members of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences are senior experts in various fields. Most of them were previously directors of research institutes or leading figures in their disciplines, and they are all in their 60s and 70s. Selecting and compiling their life's research achievements into a series of books can partially reflect the level of social science research in our country. After reading the manuscripts, we found that these experts and scholars have a very good academic style—seeking truth from facts, being pragmatic, and linking theory with practice. They have set a great example for the younger generation of scholars." During his serious illness, the author instructed others to collect and organize the articles he had written over more than 20 years of legal research, primarily exploring the relationship between law and politics, and personally named the collection "Studies on Several Issues of Legal Politics." The articles selected in this collection have been approved by the author and can be considered to represent his original intentions. The original name of this collection was "Studies on Several Issues of Legal Politics," but it was changed to "Collected Works of Liu Han" due to the format of the series. This collection only includes some of the author's thoughts in the field of legal politics. For his representative research achievements in other fields, please refer to the already published "Selected Works of Liu Han."
Since the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the author has worked in the judicial line. Afterward, he underwent seven years of legal academic training, seven years of full-time policy research, seven years of judicial and leadership work, and more than 20 years of full-time legal academic research, gaining profound insights: the majesty of the judiciary, the dignity of life, the cruelty of politics, and the justice of the rule of law. Since stepping into the gates of the Institute of Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the author has been pondering the "link" between politics and the rule of law, eager to find the best path to advance the rule of law within the existing political framework. The author firmly believes that "a rule of law without politics lacks vitality, and a politics without the rule of law is prone to brutality." He strongly advocates seeking a balance between politics and the rule of law and has written many of the texts we see today for this purpose.
