Doyle was forced to bring Holmes back to life in The Empty House and wrote other detective novels such as The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, and The Valley of Fear. The character of Holmes he created has become a globally renowned figure. Holmes' office has also become a tourist attraction. His works are captivating with logical reasoning, dramatic structures, vivid characters, and reflections of contemporary British society. For his artistic achievements, the renowned British novelist W. Somerset Maugham once said, "Compared to The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Conan Doyle, no detective novel has ever enjoyed such great fame." Conan Doyle is known as the "Father of British Detective Fiction" and is one of the world's best-selling authors.
