Features: 2006 was the third year for the new curriculum experimental zones in the junior high school entrance examination (JHE). It is understood that nearly 40% of regions in China adopted the experimental zone model in 2006, while 60% still used the teaching syllabus and textbooks for the JHE. From the analysis of JHE English questions in recent years, it can be seen that the JHE English in non-experimental zones is also moving closer to that of the experimental zones. Therefore, to meet the needs of JHE candidates across various regions in China, we have compiled this new JHE English vocabulary standard interpretation book. It is suitable for both experimental zone and non-experimental zone JHEs. This book is based on the vocabulary list proposed by the National Ministry of Education's project group for the reform of junior high and senior high school graduation and entrance examinations, as well as the new changes in JHE question types across regions and experimental zones. In addition to providing standardized notes and definitions for each word, we have also added a selection of new JHE questions and mock exam questions. In terms of language or question selection, we have avoided purely vocabulary-based questions or obscure words, opting instead for authentic, idiomatic, and typical contemporary English materials to help students improve their five core competencies: language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitudes, learning strategies, and cultural awareness. Moreover, to help students better grasp the usage of key words and quickly understand and memorize vocabulary, the book includes additional content such as distinctions and usage notes. Candidates can use the book's features, such as the left-aligned vocabulary, to cover the right part of the page and self-check their mastery of the words. Additionally, many words in the book are elaborated with detailed explanations, such as added questions or distinctions and usage notes, which are key examination points in past JHEs and should be focused on for memorization and mastery. This book has been published for many years and has been deeply loved by readers. For this revision, while preserving the essence of the original book, we have enriched its content and format, making it more distinctive and better aligned with the current practical needs of junior high school teaching. The editors would like to make three special points clear: 1. This book includes all the vocabulary from the new curriculum junior high school textbooks and has added words or phrases required by the teaching syllabus but not covered by the new curriculum; 2. The words and phrases to be mastered are highlighted in bold, while those not required by the new curriculum but necessary to be read, understood, and known in context are marked with a △ in the upper right corner; 3. Words not required for students starting English at the junior high level are marked with an .
